Reading Response #1

Flesh and Bone
BY: Jonathan Maberry
I have just started reading the book Flesh and Bone and so far, I have not been able to put it down. The book starts where the last one leaves off where Benny, Lilah, Nix, and Chong are running in search of the jet they have all been searching for. While they all moan with thoughts of the death of Bennys brother and their teacher Tom Imura. Benny was sitting on a hill when he spots a mysterious women across him. He tries to get her attention but all of a sudden he was surrounded by thousands of zombies. Wile running away from the horde he runs into a small child crying and scared for her life he rescues this little child and realized that he is now cornered and surrounded by the flesh eating blood thirsty zombie horde. "As he ran, Benny could feel the little gilrl's flttering heart beating against his chest ... As Benny ran now. Through the darkness and horror, with death pursuing and no certain knowledge of a way out of the moment." I have selected this passage because it really shows you the fear and despiration he is geting from running for his life.

A Review on "An Occurrence ar Owl Creek Bridge"

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge
By Ambrose Bierce
I really liked this story, I thought it very clever on the authors part to simulate the entire imaginary escape. She fooled me and other readers by making it seem as if he got away. It really shows how serious the life was in thewar and how people would really die for what they beleive in even when the man did not want to he stood for what he beleived in and put what he was fighting for before himself.

Dust and Decay

Dust and Decay (Very Addicting)
By Jonathan Maberry
Benny Imura, Tom Imura, Nix, Chong, and Lilah have been training for about six months now for their plan to leave Mountainside to go on Their life out in the ruin in search for the plane they saw pass over them to discover if the plane leads to any nearby salvation.
In this story they have to survive out in the wild and of the land, and to add more pressure there are zombies, bounty hunters and very bad people out there in the ruin to keep them on their toes as they live in the dark depths of the forest.
  • "okay, my young Jedi . . . time to train." tom said as every one jumped up, but as the headed outside, Morgie nudged Chong in the ribs."What's a Jedi?"
  • "People here are just dumb" Benny said, "not dumb they are just living in fear" Tom Replied
The book is set in the future, but because of all the events with the zombies, the town has set back in time and stopped the use of all electronics cars. They live in fear and blame all the new technology for what has happened to world. This is why all the kids in the town do not know what movie references like "Jedi" mean. They do not even know what a microwave is! This makes me think about if something in the world would happen I believe that the world will just seclude itself away like nothing happened and go into a deep depression and the thought of this fear will move everyone back into a devolve world.

Analyst of "The Masque of The Red Death''

The Masque of The Red Death

I think people like to read scary books and watch scary movies to have entertainment and pleasure. I think the prince threw a party wihle the plague was around because he wanted to shut himself aways from the world and fell that he was above everyone and no diseas should take his life or his riches from him.
What I noticed about the story written by Poe, was the symbolism in the story. For example the rooms where made starting from the east wing to the to west wing as the sun rises from the east and sets in the west. The next act of symbolism is how the rooms wer colored ike the start of your life starting with the lilght blue meaning birth and ending with the black and red room mean death. Everyone lives in the in all the rooms but all the moods are different but everyone dies in the red room.
The guy with the death mask represents the red plague and he awaits everyone in the red room kiling all that entered. When the prince finally passed it represented how no matter how rich famous or who you are you cant shut out death.
